Pre 1965 models had the five figure VIN prefixed by three codes.

The first denoted the assembly plant, Z = Dagenham.

The next two figures denoted the dody and gearchange type, with codes the same as after 1964.

The last is one letter denoting the year of manufacture, B = 1962, C = 1963, D = 1964.
